May Birthday Cards

A big hello to everyone.  The weather here has been so changeable.  Saturday and Sunday (Memorial Day) were so cold the furnace was running, the heat lamp for the garage kitties was turned back on, my winter nightie was pulled back out and I wore my  winter coat to go shopping.  Sunday our church had our annual pig roast (sort of).  It was very windy and chilly so many of the attendees sat inside to eat.  Monday was sunny and rather warm getting into the 60's.  Today is rainy and chilly again.

Now that the birthday girls have posted thank yous for their cards I sent, I can post pictures of them for all to enjoy.

Study Tilda sitting on her picnic quilt reading her book was very fun to color with my Copics.  Offsetting the layers seems to be the answer to uneven margins around the pieces.
The circles background paper came from My Mind's Eye Simply Delightful stack.  The paper with the numbers was from DCWV Kids 4.5 x 6.5 stack.
The cardstock was Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler and Prismatic Sunflowers.  I sponged the lighter Prismatic paper to breakup the solid color a bit.

The ribbon was a gift from an SBS22 sister (Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers group 22).  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and Hooked on Crafts.

The die cuts, Spellbinders Labels Two, were popped up on dimensionals, as was Tilda and the quilt.

Tilda with Daffodil is too cute.  Imagine a daffodil as big as she is and it looks a little heavy as Tilda is struggling to hold it up!

Tilda was colored with Copics and mounted on a Crumb Cake oval with dimensionals.
The background papers were from Magnolia Love Collection, Stampin' Up Tempting Turquoise and Crumb Cake.
The oval Tilda is on was cut using Spellbinders Ovals.  The daffodils and leaves were from Hooked on Crafts.  The ribbon was from the stash.

Tilda's Town Challenge #53 - Use a Magnolia Background stamp

As soon as I saw the challenge for this week, I knew just which background stamp I would use.  I had colored this image several months ago, but didn't have a card in mind for it.  The Tilda's Town Challenge was just perfect!

I used the Waterfall Background and Hiking Edwin.

I have no idea what Copics I used to color the background.  I added white gel pen to the clouds and mountain peaks.  Edwin was also colored with Copics, cut out, and mounted on dimensionals and placed so his feet were on the soil path and the first hill.

I tore the edges of the image to rough it up a bit.
The cardstock is Stampin' Up Soft Suede.  The ribbon is from my stash.

The inside of the card is very simple.  I found the sentiment on line and printed it out on the computer.  I tore the edges of it since the lines were a bit long to nicely fit one of my dies.

Something Old, Something New

The challenge at Tilda's Town this week is Something Old, Something New.  As I was thinking about this theme, the first obvious thoughts were Wedding.  Then I was thinking of an old Tilda stamp and a new one.  Next were thoughts of old/new card stock and designer papers.  Then I thought of an old Tilda on the front of a card with a new Tilda on the inside.  Then similar positions of the old/new stamps.  By this time my head was swimming and I could feel a massive headache coming on :-(

As I started to look through my stamps, I had very few stamps that were old/new similar positions.  That was hard to believe since I have 5 storage bins of Magnolia stamps :D :D  I am a happy woman!!  I had two that were very similar - Study Tilda from 2008 So Heavenly/School/Travel collection and Editor Tilda from 2012 Turning Leaves.  Perfect!!!

Then came papers.  Since I have several new paper pads that I'm not yet very familiar with yet, I sat down and looked through all of them.  Editor Tilda was pretty easy to find the perfect DP.  Study Tilda took a lot longer.

After finding just the right paper, I colored the Tilda's and something for each of them to sit on.  After all that, I still didn't have any idea of how to pull the two Tilda's together.  Then I ended up deciding two cards would work better than one.

Here is the first card and I love it!!

The base is Stampin' Up Crumb Cake. The second layer is an old paper from Prismatic Herbal Garden Multi Pack.  The designer paper is from my brand new The Primrose stack from DCWV.  This page was perfect - newspaper print on the bottom and beautiful roses and swirls on the top with a diagonal line of glittery triangles separating the sections. Love it!!

Editor Tilda is sitting on Books from 2008 So Heavenly/School/Travel collection and is mounted on the 2 papers from the Prismatic pack cut using Nestabilities Labels One .  The gardenia, which I've had for a long time, is from Magnolia; the tiny Gypsophil and roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts and are brand new.

I really liked the look of the papers offset to one side rather than trying to get an even margin all around.

 The little tag used for the sentiment is from the Primrose stack, mounted on the Prismatic paper.  The sentiment is old and I've forgotten where it's from.  the corners were punched using a Fiskers punch that has 4 corner designs on it.  The tiny pink Gypsophil flowers are brand new from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Spring Stamp Camp 2012

Our stamping group held our first Spring Stamp Camp on April 27.  It was a lot of fun! And a lot of work for the three of us presenters - Deby Scott, Kim Leach and me.

The tables were decorated with spring flower pots.  Under the green styrofoam disks, each pot was filled with stamping goodies - ribbons, bows, stickers, chip board pieces, brads, and roses on top of the disk.  There was also a small bag of stamped images.  Rather than bend them, we put them on the table with each pot.

When the attendees arrived, they were greeted with this scene -

Each person received a personalized decorated gift bag containing the kits for each of the cards to be made.  After brief instructional directions, everyone went to a table to begin working.

The gentleman in the picture has attended every stamp camp we've done.  The first Christmas he and his wife attended together.  She has had to work the day of the others.

 Kim had a meeting in another part of the building, but as she had a break she would come in to see how everyone was doing.  Deby and I helped anyone who needed assistance creating Kim's cards.

Our kitchen staff made us another scrumptious lunch of sandwiches, hot pasta, chips, punch and desert.  All in all, everyone had a great time and got all of their cards finished. 

Did you notice that the ribbons on the tables, the gift bags and flower backgrounds all perfectly matched?  It was not intentionally planned - it just all came together perfectly!  The bags were purchased one day, the ribbons a few days later.  Deby had the cardstock for the flowers in her retired Stampin' Up papers.  We believe God had it all planned that way for us!

Son & Grandson B-day cards

Yesterday was bright and very sunny!  Beautiful day :D  Today is cooler and overcast and  gloomy :(

I have my son's and grandson's birthday cards to post today.  These are a very different style card.  I was inspired by my friend Norma's blog and her cards.  Check her out here.  Be prepared to have a feast for your eyes!

My son Dale's card was the first never-ending card I made.  So I closely followed Norma's layout and similar paper choices.  All images were colored with Copic Sketch markers.

Face 1.

This is the front of the card.  I used Mini Tilda with Wedding Gifts and Mini Hiking Edwin.  The sentiments were computer generated to get them the correct size to fit.  The swirls were from an old set of swirl stamps I haven't used in years.  The tiny flowers were from the stash.

 

Face 2.

The stamps used on this face were Mini Edwin with Butterfly, Mini Birthday Tilda and Mini Tilda with Balloon.  The sentiments were computer generated.  The swirls were from the same old set of swirl stamps.  the flowers are layered with Prima flowers and a pearl from the stash.

Face 3.

Here you have Mini Cool Edwin and Mini Edwin in Miami.  The words were computer generated.

Face 4.

This is the back of the card.  I used Mini Edwin Wants a Hug.  More of the same swirls.  Tiny flowers and pearls were from the stash.  Before I sent his card, I wrote a note to him in the blank square.
This card was very fun to make after I figured out how it flipped from one face to the next.
Dale said he was going to take it and show his friends and challenge them to figure out how it worked.

So I had so much fun doing the card for Dale that I had to make another one right away so I wouldn't forget how.  My grandson, Jacob, had a birthday coming up very quickly after Dale's - March 26 and then April 5.  I wanted to do something different for Jacob but use the Never Ending style.

Face 1.

I used Tilda's Summer Car on the front.  Since it is a full size stamp, after it was all colored, I glue the left side to the card base, cut it in half, and glued the second side to the right side of the card base.  I trimmed words from a piece of birthday designer paper and glued them on.

Face 2.

Here I used full sized Boat, masked it off and added Edwin with Paddle.  The words were again cut from the same birthday paper.  The leafy vine was a die cut someone sent me.  The corners were cut from a piece of Stampin' Up designer paper.  I glued the top of Edwin to the top half of the center section, cut him in half and glued the bottom half in place.

Face 3.

This face was stamped on a long piece of paper, colored, the cut apart along the center.  "Jake Up and 'Kota" were stamped using a set of alphabet letters.  This represents Jacob and his daughter, Dakota.  She calls herself  'Kota. 
A full size Edwin Wants a Hug and the Mini Little Princess Tilda and Mini Log were the stamps I used on this face.

Face 4.

A full size Happy New Year Edwin was stamped on a separate piece of paper and glued over the "candy sprinkles" paper.  I used a Nesties Label Twenty-Two for the sentiment panel.  The circular image was from Gina K's Holiday Greetings Stamp TV set.

April Birthday Cards

Happy Sunday to All!!  This bizarre weather just keeps on coming.  We had snow early this morning.  Now early afternoon the snow's all gone, the sun is shining and the temp is 52.

I sold several of my used paper stacks a few weeks ago and couldn't stand the empty spaces on my 12 x 12 designer paper shelf.  So I went out and bought  several new paper stacks.  K & Company caught my eye!!  I love the variety of colors and themes in the different stacks and they aren't nearly so large having only 28 sheets.  I kept hearing them calling me to use them!

I'm using Tilda with Big Tulip Pot for the Tilda's Town Challenge # 48 Flowers Everywhere as well as one of the birthday gals.
Tilda is colored with Copics and mounted on Nestabilities Labels Three.
The gorgeous background paper is from K & Company's Handmade stack.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and Hooked on Crafts.  I started with 3 or 4 flowers and just kept adding them until I nearly ran out of space.  Maybe it is overkill, but I like it!!

The sentiment panel is a different size die from Nesties Labels 3.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.  The ribbon is from my stash.  I hope Dawn Carrington likes her birthday card.

Pink Ribbon Tilda is featured on the next card.  Pink didn't go with my paper choice so she is yellow ribbon Tilda on this card.  The paper is from K & Company's Botanical.  The panel Tilda is mounted on was cut with Nesties Floral Ovals.  The Berry Head Stamens are from Hooked on  Craft.  The ribbon was from the stash. 

Another sheet of the Botanical paper is on the easel.  The dimensional flowers are from the coordinating Botanical Flower Layered Accents.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.  Enjoy your card, Ev Banks!

The last of my April birthday cards features Tilda with Egg and Chicken.  I covered the eggs in her basket with a lavender Chrysanthemum Aster from Hooked on Crafts.  Tilda is mounted on Nesties Labels 10.  The paper is from K & Company's Cottage Garden.  The ribbon is from the stash. 

The inside of the card has another sheet from the Cottage Garden stack and flowers from the Cottage Garden Cool Mix Layered Flowers.  The sentiment was computer generated and printed on a shape cut with Nesties Labels One or Two.  I hope Kerry Bunting enjoys her card!

March Birthday Cards

Where has the time gone??  I've been busy doing things other than card making.  I know, I know - how could I?!?!?!

Better late than never - here are pictures of the cards I made for my March Magnolia birthday ladies.

This one with Tilda with Cupcake went to Katherine Voss.  Happy birthday, Katherine!
I put cupcake brad over Tilda's hand. he image was Love is in the Air without all the hearts.  The balloons are covered with Stickles.  The die cut is Doo Hickey Leaf and Swirl.  The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The sentiment panel was Die-Namics Textile Rectangle.  The ribbon was from my stash, as were the papers.

Tilda with  Mushrooms and Daisies went to Kim Bush.  I hope your birthday was special, Kim!
the papers were from my friend Jean.  I've has them for a long time and decided it was time to use them!  The background daisy, the smaller daisies and the ribbon were from my stash.   The sentiment was computer generated and printed on the Die-Namics Textile Rectangle.

Tilda in her bubble bath was for Dana Sandberg.  I would love to have a tub like hers and take bubble baths.  Just look at all those bottles and that gorgeous French chair.  I hope you had a fun birthday and maybe even relaxed in a warm bubble bath, Dana!!
That perfect background paper was from DCWV Glitter Sweet Stack.  The bubbles are covered with light blue Stickles.  The bottles have Crystal Effects on them. The piece of lace is from the stash.  The sentiment was from a House Mouse stamp that I retyped using different fonts.

Tilda with Rabbit was for Karen Wiseman.  I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Karen, and that your garden will soon look like the one behind Tilda.
The papers and ribbon were from the stash.  The flowers were from a Jolee's Boutique pack from Wal- Mart.  I just arranged them over top of the stamped flowers on the Open Gate. 

My last card went to Patricia Watson.  Apparently I forgot to take a picture of it. I hope your birthday was special!!
