Inventory Reduction Challenge #91 Criss Cross Card

What a fun challenge this week!! We need to make a criss cross card.  I've only made one other criss cross card so this sent me to the tutorials.  The challenge for the Magnolia-licious Highlite Blog is Christmas is July.  Soooo ---- I made a Christmas Criss Cross card.  Just try saying that 5 times very fast!

The front (envelope) part of the card has a base cut from Stampin' Up's More Mustard cardstock.  The designer papers are from Basic Grey Nordic Holiday, a very fun paper pack.
Tilda is mounted on a white medallion cut using my Cheery Lynn Designs Swedish Spring Oval Frame die.  Tilda is colored with Copic Sketch  markers.
The edges of the base were cut using Magnolia Antique Lace border die.
The poinsettias were from Prima.

The insert sentiment panel was cut from SU's More Mustard and layered with SU's Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Papers.
Sweet Christmas Edwin was colored with Copics.
Sweet Christmas Present is the pull tab, also Copic colored.
The sentiment is also from Sweet Christmas Dreams.
The poinsettias were from Prima.

Either one of these pieces could make a sweet card; together they are irresistible!

B-day card for Charlotte at WCCH Rehab

Today I made up a card for one of the nurses at the cardio rehab where I go.  I've been taking in my cards to show the girls and she asked if I sold them.  Then she ordered one for a friend of hers.  The only instructions she gave me were it had to have butterflies and daisies and be an easel card.

Sometimes the more leeway I have, the more difficult the project.  I started with butterflies.  I had this gorgeous paper from Stampin' Up! Sweet Pea stack.  Then I decided on Tilda with Daisy from the Sweet Crazy Love Collection.

Tilda was colored with Copic Sketch markers.  The butterfly was punched with a Martha Stewart punch. The ribbon is from my stash.  The sentiment is from an SU set and stamped on Nestabilities Labels Twenty.

The sentiment was one I found on the internet some time ago.  The carnations are from Wild Orchid Crafts, the daisies from WalMart's floral department and another butterfly punched with MS a punch.

I really like the way this one turned out and it only took me 3 or 4 hours to get it done.

Tilda & Edwin at the Sea Shore

Tilda and Edwin have been spending the day at the sea shore enjoying the sun.  One of the most popular activities was swinging on an anchor.  Tilda got the "hang of it" very quickly.  But poor Edwin just couldn't figure it out.  Dangling Sea Edwin is the perfect name for him!  Even the pelican seems to be amused by Edwin's antics.

The images used are Dangling Sea Edwin and Dangling Sea Tilda.  I cut the skull and anchor off the Barrel, Anchor & Skull stamp so I could easily use just the barrel without getting smudges from cleaning ink off the stamp.  The Pelican just adds some whimsey to the scene!

The flowers are from Magnolia and Wild Orchid Crafts.  The "green thingies" are called Sprig from BlueMoon Scrapbooking, a new to me company.  The tiny shell, starfish and sand dollars were from Michael's or AC Moore.  The cheesecloth in the background is from my stash.

The sun was cut using Nestibilities Inverted Scalloped Circles and Classic Circles.  The sentiment panel was cut with Labels Fourteen.

Inventory Reduction Challenge # 90

This week's Inventory Reduction Challenge #90 is to follow a "recipe" for the card and a difficult recipe it was!

The card needed to have

      1 sentiment -  Magnolia

      2 die cuts -  corners from Cuttlebug Vintage dies and Die-namics Textile Rectangle
      3 designer papers - Stampin' Up! Blueberry Crisp
      4 embellishments - Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts
                                      Chandelier Beads in large flower arrangement from Magnolia
                                      Dark blue pearls from Michaels
                                      Silver metallic ink on needle

Edwin Birthday Card

The challenge this week at Tilda's Town Challenge blog is to use an Edwin image.
I really like making easel cards and here is another one.

I love the expression on Edwin's face on the Edwin Waiting for Fish image.  He looks like he has been waiting for hours for an unsuspecting fish to take his bait.  I hope he put on lots of sun screen before he went out on the water.

Edwin was having a tough day.  There was no one to hang out with so he decided to go fishing.  The fish didn't want to hang out with him either.
Even America the Eagle seemed to be just a shadow of himself.
Edwin and the boat were colored with Copic Sketch markers.  America the Eagle was stamped with Memento London Fog ink.
 
The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The balloon is a stick-on.  The fishing line is SU's Baker's Twine in Cherry Cobbler.

The bottom of the easel has roses from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The sentiment panel was cut using Nestibilities Labels Six and sponged with SU Pacific Point ink.  The sand dollar, starfish and shell are buttons with the shanks removed and attached with glue dots.  I found them at Michael's or AC Moore.

My son-in-law's birthday is coming up in a few days so I took advantage of the Tilda's Town challenge to use an Edwin stamp and have his card ready early.

Two new Riley Moose cards

It has been a very, very long time since I've made a Riley Moose card.  Now I am trying to get caught up some. So here is a Riley graduation card for my nephew Nate.  Even though he graduated in 2011 I think "better late than never!"

I used the Graduate Riley stamp and stamped it out repeatedly on the front of the card.  All the images were colored with Koh-I-Noor Woodless Colour Pencils.  Some parts of the images are smoothed out with Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits).  I trimmed the face from one moose and inserted a picture of Nate in the graduating class!

The inside panels --

The black and orange dew drops are Riley's form of money - nuggets!!
Maybe I should have put a pic of Nate on the Riley on the stars.  Oh well, too late now.

Nate had a red tractor when the Riley Moose cards started, so every card Riley drives away on a red tractor.

I also had a piece of designer paper that sort of looked like a road.  Every card had the tractor on the "road".

If anyone is interested in the background story of the Riley Moose cards, please go back in my blog to older posts.  The first Riley card was done 12/01/08.  Over the years there were 16 to 20 Riley cards.  They were a lot of fun to make. Most of the posts have Riley in the title so you can easily find them.

For Nate's birthday, which was the end of June, I made a birthday party card for him. 

Please join me for the surprise party Riley and Sophie threw for Nate.

 Sophie is very proud of the cake she baked for Nate.  Riley did all the decorating.

Because I am late getting this card done, I apologized.  When the flaps are opened up all the party guests stand up!

Every one of these characters was featured on a card at one time or another.  There are several views of the party guests.

But the time has come to say goodbye to Riley and Sophie. 

The cards were mailed anonymously from Riley Moose.  Friends and family helped me out by mailing some of the cards from their hometowns.  The postal clerks got in on the secret by smearing the cancellations on the envelopes for me.  It was a joint effort with a lot of people involved.

To this day, Nate has not figured out for sure who Riley Moose is.  If you look very closely, you will see where I have added "aka Aunt Kathy" in one of the road stripes.  Will Nate see it?  Maybe, if he turns the card over.

Two New Projects

Hello again everyone!  I will warn you in advance - this post has a very lot of pictures.

Today I have two new projects on my blog for your review.  The challenge for Inventory Reduction Challenge is to alter an item.  Both of these projects were started months ago and put aside for other more pressing things.  Soooo I couldn't think of anything I had to alter but these two books.

The first one is a black and white composition book.  I covered the outside and inside covers front and back with designer papers from an old DCWV Spring stack.  Surprisingly, some of these papers are still available.  The inside of the comp book has been left blank for my grandson, Jake, to use as a journal, photo memory album, or whatever he wants.

I know that we're supposed to use only old stash stuff for our Inventory Reduction challenges, but I used a new cutting die Marshmallow Clouds from Memory Box available from our wonderful Diana at her store, http://magnoliastamps.us.  I used Sleeping Baby Tingla for the front image and put her on one of the smaller clouds for her nap!

The second item I altered was a Tim Holtz Grungebook I've had for a couple years.  I covered all the pages and the front and back covers with a large assortment of designer papers.  I added various shapes to the pages for pictures to be slid behind or placed on top.  I don't have any pictures that I wanted to cut up, so again, pages are lacking pictures.  Most of the pages have a small embellishment.  Here are pictures of the pages and there are lots to show!

So there you have Dakota's little picture album!  I'm sure my grandson will have it filled with pictures in no time!

My Favorite Tilda

Today the challenge at Tilda's Town is to use your favorite Tilda stamp.  I love every Tilda I have, so the decision was tough.  I slowly went through my entire Tilda collection and put the ones I use a lot in a pile.  Then I went through that pile again and again and again until I had three stamps left.  Even then I couldn't decide.  So I colored all three of them.

I still was undecided.  I finally settled on Lady Tilda in blue!  She went best with the designer paper I wanted to use from the Magnolia Summer Memories pack.
Then came the decision of image placement so it covered the least amount of the gorgeous roses on my DP.  Gotta have a ribbon, bow and flowers.

 Finally there was the easel card platform and more decisions.  I used another paper from the Summer Memories pack.  I needed something to keep the card front in the open position and more small roses seemed like a great solution.

So there you have the finished card :D  I am now going to enter it in the Tilda's Town Challenge.

Challenge - Card with Tag

The Inventory Reduction Challenge for this week is to make a tag, a card with a tag, or a tag card.  So I made a card with a tag.  For some reason I could not think straight when it came to planning this card.  Even after looking at lots of cards with tags, I had absolutely no ideas.  This was a huge challenge for me this week.

I finally ended up making a card with twisted layers and a tag hidden under one of the layers.

The cardstock is Stampin' Up! Cool Caribbean, now retired, and Cryogen.
The designer papers are from my favorite My Mind's Eye Simply Delightful.
The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and Magnolia.
The ribbons and pearl rope are from the stash.
Summer Flower Tilda was lots of fun to color.

Here is a picture with the tag removed from it's pocket.

I couldn't get the ribbons and pearl rope to hang like I wanted them to.  The ribbons are light pink, light blue and light green.
