Birthday cards for son and grandson

It has been a busy 2 weeks in my Stamp Mansion!  I made 2 birthday cards for 2 VIP's in my life - my son and my grandson.  I also did 3 Easter cards and 2 Inventory Challenges. One Easter and one Inventory Challenge were combined.  The two Inventory Challenge cards have already been posted.

So - on to the birthday cards!
I had thought of at least 3 other cards to try, but when I sat down to make them, nothing was coming together.  Then my dear friend Cathy-Lynn posted a picture of a shirt card she had made and I knew that was what I wanted to do for my son!! Thank you Cathy-Lynn!!

I used SU Not Quite Navy cardstock for the main jacket.  The tiny white "handkerchief" are triangles glued to the "pocket".

The tiny rosebud was from Wild Orchid Crafts.
The buttons from my stash.
The "pockets" were inked with Memento Tuxedo Black.

I used Velcro colored with Not Quite Navy ink to hold the jacket closed.
The vest was a scrap in my stash, SU designer paper, I think.
The "buttons" were some rhinestone brads in very light blue.
The "tie" was a piece of navy ribbon from the stash.

The collar is held in place with tiny pieces of Velcro.
I added a hidden pocket to the inside to hold a gift card or check.
The vest panel opens downward to reveal a sentiment panel.
The light blue panel was embossed with the Birthday folder from Cuttlebug and cut with Nestibilities Large Labels.

The cardstock was SU Bashful Blue mounted on Not Quite Navy.  The brown panel was SU Chocolate Chip.

On the inside of the vest panel is the image.  I used Super Edwin from Magnolia and changed the "E" on Edwin to a "D" for Dale!
The light blue panel was also embossed with the Birthday embossing folder.
The image was stamped on Cryogen White and colored with Copics.  I didn't keep a list of those colors.

The markers got put away to clear an area on my work table to assemble this card.
The sentiment was in my stash of birthday stamps.

How do I remember all these papers you ask? They are still in a pile waiting to be sorted and put away :(

My son called me after he got the card and told me it was his second most favorite card that I have ever made for him.  The first favorite was his birthday card from last year using stamps from the Bon Voyage collection.

I hope you are still with me on this post!!  Now for my grandson's card.  Just in case you were wondering, he is my daughter's son.

This card was a piece of cake after the suit card.
I used an older Edwin in Cap stamp as my grandson used to wear his hats backwards.
Edwin looks a little sad for being the birthday boy.  Even Rufus and the birds couldn't cheer him up.  It seems to him that everyone forgot his birthday.

The tree was stamped on SU paper from the Frostwood Lodge designer series.
The images were all colored with Copics, the flowers from WOC and the background paper from the stash.
The green stuff on the tree was from Melissa Frances Embellishments.

When Edwin noticed the sign pointing toward his  house, he became curious as to why it was there.

What a surprise!!  His friends were all there for a surprise party for him.  His sister had made him a birthday cake and his little daughter was there too!!

Edwin had a very special and happy birthday after all.  The biggest surprise was his sister keeping the secret!

All the images were colored with Copics.

Here's an overhead shot so you can see all Edwin's friends.
The sentiment oval was done using Nestabilities Beaded Ovals.

Thanks for staying with me through this long post.  Have a wonderful Easter and weekend!

Aww, both cards are so adorable! I'm in a slump, too, Kathy. I'm in the scrap room cleaning rather than planning and executing a card. My mind is gone! LOL

I love the uniqueness of the top card. How perfect for a young man's special day. The second card is precious! I love the scene! They are colored to perfection!

You "dun good!"

XO,
Chris
