What could be more special to a little girl or boy than the first day of school!?
I will be entering this card in the Tilda's Town Challenge #120 Special Occasion this week.
As I was thinking about the Special Occasion challenge, my mind was running down all the "normal" special occasions we attend - weddings, birthday parties, showers, graduation from high school or college.
Then I thought of first day of school as very special - especially for the first child leaving the nest to start the next thirteen years of their life. That's when my idea for a First Day of School special occasion card began to take shape.
Poor little Tilda looks so overwhelmed by all the fuss going on around her. She really doesn't want to go to school and leave Mommy all alone at home.
I have used Magnolia stamps House and Tilda with Blue Blanket. The images are colored with Copics.
The sentiment was computer generated.
The flowers and the leaves are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
The leaf swirl is Lovely Tendril from Poppy Stamps.
The papers and pearls are from my stash.
The ribbon is from the stash. The aqua braiding is colored with Copics.
This is not just an ordinary card. It is a Pop-Up Book card! What could be more appropriate than a book for the First Day of School?
Autumn Tilda with Pencils is our little kindergarten Tilda grown up a bit. She is colored with Copics.
The sentiment was computer generated.
The Ivy Leaves are from Marianne Designs.
The butterflies were from my friend Lillian. She sends the very best gifts!
sentiment and image panels were cut using Nestabilities Labels Twenty-three.
I found the tutorial for this Pop Up Book Card on Norma Lee's blog here.
Norma makes some of the most beautiful cards you will ever see. You should check out her blog if you never have. You will not be disappointed!
I hope you have enjoyed helping give Tilda a great sendoff for her first day of school, such a special occasion!

Fabulous card to begin with, Kathy, and then an added bonus, being it's a book card - how special is that! This is adorable and the flowers are so pretty - you've coordinated it all beautifully and good luck on a WIN !!

Back to school really is a special occasion though that's never crossed my mind before. It's certainly a big deal for the student. Beautiful coloring of Tilda. I love this! Thank you so much for sharing with us at the Tilda's Town challenges. I hope you will join us again for next week's challenge that starts tomorrow.
Good Luck,
